Let's Make a Scene!
Local Documentary Shines Light On Lethbridge Musicians
PRESS RELEASE: October 21, 2020
LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA - Although Lethbridge is considered a small Albertan City, it has a diverse mix of talented musicians, lively local music venues, and a large number of dedicated fans. Together, this creates a somewhat unexpectedly vibrant music scene for a city the size of Lethbridge.
Lethbridge’s music scene caught the attention of local artist Gabriel Thaine Olsen in 2014. As a musician himself, he has performed on Lethbridge stages and interacted with many of Lethbridge’s talented local musicians for several years.
Olsen is now embarking on a documentary project about the growing music scene in Lethbridge—a project that will marry his interests in both music and film-making. The documentary, “Let’s Make a Scene!,” will be a fast-paced, upbeat film featuring interviews from local musicians, fans, and venue owners, and clips of live performances.
The documentary will explore the connection between local fans and musicians. On a local level, the musician-fan relationship is very personal as fans have more access to their favourite musicians through open mics and local performances.
“I am so excited to be making this project. I want people in Lethbridge to follow their local musicians the way they follow their local sports teams,” states Olsen. “While a few rabid fans of the Lethbridge’s music scene exist, I hope my film will help inspire more widespread loyalty.”
Olsen is currently seeking partners to help make his documentary dream a reality. “This documentary offers local businesses a chance to put their name on a new, exciting project. Local businesses can pledge support through a Kickstarter campaign, set to launch on October 24th.”
“Let’s Make a Scene!” will be released to the public in February 2021 on YouTube.
